In preparation for some upcoming projects and posts, I’ve been collecting images and creating some new Pintrest boards. This week, I thought I’d share a few images from one of those collections.
Below are two beautiful Renaissance game boards. Both boards are reversible, with a chess board on one side and either an unknown game board chess or the Goose Game on the other side. The boards are also all heavily decorated with intricate inlay, in a variety of woods, ivory, dyed ivory, horn, gold and micromosaic. The similarities between both boards, especially in their design, are impressive, especially given the distances between their origins – one from India and the other Italy.

I’ve also started a Pintrest Page with more pictures of game boards.
